On the night of May 8, a warehouse with Red Cross humanitarian aid was destroyed by a Russian missile strike in the Odessa region. The premises were rented by the Ukrainian branch of the organization. Also on May 7, the branch of the mobile hospital of the Red Cross in Nikolaev came under fire.
Strike on a warehouse in Odessa
On Monday, May 8, during a night rocket attack by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the warehouses of the Odessa Regional Organization of the Red Cross of Ukraine with an area of 1,000 square meters were practically destroyed. The fire completely destroyed the humanitarian aid that was in the warehouse. Information about this was posted on the official page of the Red Cross of Ukraine.
“On World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, we are shocked and saddened that a warehouse in Odessa and a mobile clinic in Nikolaev suffered from hostilities,” the message says.
In connection with the shelling, the Red Cross stopped issuing humanitarian aid in the Odessa region and suspended the activities of some projects in the region, according to a press release.
Earlier it was reported that due to the impact of Kh-22 missiles on a warehouse located near Odessa, a warehouse guard was killed , three more people were injured. The Ukrainian edition of “Strana” wrote that the rocket hit the warehouse of a local food company.
In turn, the representative of the Russian-controlled authorities of the annexed part of the Zaporozhye region, Vladimir Rogov, claimed that the warehouses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were under attack.

Shelling of a mobile hospital in Nikolaev
Due to the rocket attack on the Nikolaev region, which occurred on May 7, 2023, the mobile hospital of the Nikolaev regional organization of the Red Cross of Ukraine was damaged. As a result, according to the organization’s page, some of the medical equipment, appliances and furniture that were there became unsuitable for future use. After the consequences of the shelling are eliminated, the hospital will operate as usual, but in a different location.
Representatives of the Red Cross in Ukraine stressed that attacks on workers, humanitarian aid volunteers and humanitarian facilities are unacceptable.
