At least four people were killed and nine others were injured in a fire that broke out on Wednesday in a residential building in the Galician city of Vigo, northwest coast of Spain.

The nine injured were taken to hospital with burns.

According to the emergency services of Galicia 112, the fire started at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday in the lower part of a five-storey building located in the vicinity of the Plaza America, center of Vigo. It took firefighters at least three hours to extinguish the fire.

Police are investigating the incident as arson.
