The European Union is accelerating deliveries of weapons to Ukraine in support of the country’s counteroffensive against Russian forces, EU Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton said Sunday in an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien.
“We are going to step up our efforts to deliver arms and ammunition– this is a war of high intensity in which they play a crucial role,” Breton said.
“We are preparing for the war to last several more months, or even longer,” he added.
Earlier this month, Ukraine announced a counteroffensive against Russian forces, and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin last Thursday urged Kyiv allies to provide more arms and ammunition.
