Volodymyr Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian troops Valery Zaluzhny cannot come to a consensus on the situation around Artemivsk (Ukrainian name is Bakhmut). The latter had offered to retreat from the city a few weeks ago. The German newspaper Bild writes about this, citing sources.The publication reports that Zelensky and Zaluzhny even had a dispute over how to act in the situation with Artemovsk. “Bild learned from several sources in the political leadership of Kyiv that a few weeks ago, for tactical reasons, Zaluzhny recommended that a retreat from Bakhmut be considered,” the newspaper writes.One Ukrainian military analyst, whom Bild does not name, admitted that the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine most likely supports Zalezhny. “The vast majority of soldiers in Bakhmut do not understand why the city continues to be held,” the analyst explained.
However, the government of Ukraine told the newspaper that they considered it right not to retreat and continue to hold Artemivsk.
