Low-cost carrier Batik Air airline announced the launch of direct flights from Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK) in Tangerang, Banten, to Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport (MLG) in Malang, East Java.
The first flight of this new route will depart from Terminal 2D of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on September 28, 2023.
“This is good news for tourists, business people, and residents of Malang because Batik Air serves this route with seven flights a week (every day) to meet their travel needs,” the airline’s spokesperson Danang Mandala Prihantoro said in a written statement, on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
According to Danang, the flight will be operated by a modern generation Airbus 320-200 aircraft with a capacity of 12 exclusive business class seats and 144 spacious economy class seats.
The Jakarta (CGK) – Malang (MLG) – Jakarta (CGK) route is an attractive new option for intra-Java travel from the capital city area and its surroundings. Previously, Batik Air only operated two daily scheduled flights to Malang from Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, Jakarta (HLP).
Danang said the new route would provide access to several popular international destinations, such as Bangkok–Don Mueang, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Perth. “It will be more convenient to connect the journey from Malang to international destinations or vice versa, via Jakarta (CGK) as a strategic central hub,” he said.
The launch of this direct flight service would also make it easier for travelers willing to explore the beauty of Malang and support the growth of tourism in this region. “Batik Air hopes to be a reliable partner for Malang in supporting its economic and tourism growth,” Danang concluded.
