The Russian army began to work out the defense of the northwestern borders after Finland joined NATO.

This was stated by the commander of the Russian Air Defense Forces, Lieutenant-General Andrey Demin, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to the Russian RIA Novosti .

“Finland has become part of the NATO bloc. Sweden is preparing to join the alliance. Under these conditions, the air defense forces are working out the issues of protecting the state border in the north-west of the country in accordance with the growth of threats,” Demin said.

Recall that on April 4, Finland officially became the 31st member of NATO.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called this a “clear signal” about the need for membership in the alliance and for Ukraine.
