The Western Michigan men’s basketball program has announced it will take an eight-day trip to Spain, from August 16-24, 2023.
The Broncos will play a trio of exhibition games while visiting the cities of Barcelona and Madrid. The team is also set for a tour of the historic city of Toledo, among other cultural activities.
“We are looking forward to traveling to Spain in August,” WMU head coach Dwayne Stephens said. “For our program, it will be a great experience both on and off the court. We will be able to experience the culture of Spain while continuing to build our team chemistry.
We strive to enhance the student-athlete experience by creating memory makers, and this will be a life-long memory for our players. I would like to thank everyone who made this trip possible for our program.”
NCAA programs are allowed to take foreign trips once every four years, and this will be Western Michigan’s first since visiting Belgium, France and the Netherlands in the summer of 2016. The Broncos went 4-0 on that European trip.
Supporters who are interested in helping fund the trip to Spain are encouraged to give to the men’s basketball program as a part of WMU’s annual Giving Day, which is Wednesday, April 12.
